I used Davis and Sons Plumbing to replace a water heater through Home Depot, and it was an absolutely horrible experience.Warranty IssuesThey refused to cooperate with my warranty company, which ended up costing me $700 in reimbursement I was entitled to. My warranty provider simply needed specific questions answered by the technician—questions that wouldn’t have been necessary if the work notes had included relevant details beyond just stating that the installation was completed and the unit was working.I first reached out to Matt Barron to provide the answers, but he flat-out refused to answer them. I then escalated the issue to Justin Davis, his boss, who did eventually answer the questions but refused to send them directly to my warranty company. Instead, he sent them to me via email but would not forward that exact same email to my warranty provider, citing a policy he claimed Home Depot had in place.I called Home Depot customer service directly, and they confirmed that they had no such policy and had no issue with Davis and Sons forwarding the email. When I told Matt Barron this, he dismissed me, saying he was “busy” and that “if I did this for everyone, I’d get no work done.” When I politely disagreed, he hung up on me.After escalating to Justin Davis again, he continued to refuse to send the email and ultimately stopped responding to my emails altogether. However, while they ignored my messages, they had no problem sending me a bill and threatening collections after 25 days had passed—despite my ongoing efforts to get them to cooperate with my warranty company before I paid. Ultimately, I had to pay everything out of pocket because their cooperation never came.Water Heater Mismatch & False ClaimsTo make matters worse, they replaced my 80-gallon water heater with a 55-gallon unit. Before installation, I specifically asked the technician if this would be enough hot water for my household of six. He assured me that although the unit was smaller, it was “more efficient” and would heat faster, so I wouldn’t notice a difference. This was completely false. As I write this review, my kids are sitting in a cold bathtub because the smaller tank doesn’t meet our needs. The technician also claimed the water heater would reheat in 15 minutes, which is impossible. Based on wattage and standard heating calculations, the actual reheat time is 60–80 minutes.Final ThoughtsSo here I am—less money and less hot water, thanks to Davis and Sons Plumbing. Hopefully, this review costs them more than they cost me.Avoid them at all costs.
